Dr. Desjardin Featured in New York Times

Sempera’s resident super-mycologist, Dennis Desjardin, PhD, has been interviewed by the prestigious New York Times for a feature delving into the trend of foraging for wild mushrooms and other natural foods. The article, by Jim Robbins, quoted Dr. Desjardin about the need for sellers of wildcrafted/foraged mushrooms to include clear instructions about how to consume them, emphasizing that gathered fungi “should be thoroughly cooked before eating, especially morels, which are toxic when ingested raw.”

Dr. Desjardin additionally spoke about how climate change is affecting natural fungi populations.
