All our mushrooms are lovingly grown in our indoor lab farm. Unlike mushroom grown outdoors or green house grown mushrooms, our sterile climate-controlled facility allows us to control every aspect of the growing process.
The Result? A steady supply that continually exceed our customers’ highest quality standards.
RAPID MUSHROOM CULTIVATION PROCESS
We grow our mushrooms using proprietary methods to maximize the growth through their life cycle. This enables us to both accelerate time for production—up to 40% over conventional methods—and keep the quality of our mushroom products consistently high. Our customers benefit from predictable low lead times.
In addition, unlike fruit-body-only products, our unique process enables us to capture all the secondary metabolites that the mycelium inject into their substrate surroundings. These metabolites contain bioactive compounds such as peptides or terpenoids that researchers have found to be medically beneficial to us.
WE ♥ TECHNOLOGY
We are digital-native. From enterprise resource planning to IOT-driven environmental monitoring to Electronic Batch Records, our digital processes drive smart business decision-making through real-time data analytics.
Being digital enables us to be fully transparent as we roll out mechanisms for customers to access product stock and availability on demand.
FOCUS AND CONTINUOUS INNOVATION
We are committed to producing functional mushrooms for increased bioavailability, potency, and health benefits. We continue to make investments in the advancement of medicinal mushroom production through high quality strain development and production technology. We are big believers in the Japanese concept of Kaizen. We are continually improving through feedback, efficiency, and evolution.
Certifications
Quality is in our DNA. Sempera is USDA Organic, non-GMO, cGMP and SQF Level 2 certified.
USDA ORGANIC CERTIFIED
Our mushroom products are produced according to the organic standards set forth by the USDA.
This means that they are grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or artificial agents, or genetic engineering. But organic goes far beyond just what isn’t in our mushrooms.
Our methods integrate cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity.
CGMP (Dietary Supplement Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) Final Rule 21 CFR Part 111) requires that the proper controls be in place for dietary supplements during manufacturing, packaging, labeling, and holding operations. The 21 CFR 111 ruling addresses the quality of the manufacturing processes for dietary supplements and the accurate listing of supplement ingredients. This includes establishing strong quality management systems, obtaining appropriate quality raw materials, establishing robust operating procedures, detecting and investigating product quality deviations, and maintaining reliable testing laboratories.
SQF is a program benchmarked by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), whose mission is to standardize and globalize food safety standards. GFSI also strives to continuously improve standards based on food safety trends and common issues in the industry.
Our mushrooms are grown in our state-of-the-art lab farm at the southern-most end of Silicon Valley, in Morgan Hill, CA. Morgan Hill is home to an abundance of fresh air and rolling hills, award-winning wineries, and world-class cycling and hiking.
Perhaps most importantly, Morgan Hill hosts the annual Mushroom Mardi Gras. When we learned this after moving in, it seemed clear that we chose the right home for Sempera Organics.
